Depending on local market requirements and target market, RBS's Global Transaction Services division operates in different forms in various countries - either as a retail or wholesale operation. Globally, Global Transaction Services was formed in 2005 and comprises:

In Australia, we focus on the Trade Finance sector and service our global clients for Cash Management products. Our services include:

  • Removing performance and payment risks in connection with cross-border trade transactions
  • Improving liquidity by providing short term transactional funding
  • Providing clients global access to Cash Management systems
  • Providing Euro & USD clearing services to FI and Corporate clients
  • Supply Chain Finance solutions through our award winning eChannel, MaxTrad.

Trade Finance solutions

Our trade products are targeted at the top 200 companies in Australia and New Zealand, providing risk mitigation through guaranteeing payment of letters of credit from lesser developed countries or purchasing trade receivables either on or off balance sheet. The Trade Finance product suite broadly covers:

  • Issuance and negotiation of letters of credit
  • Accounts receivable purchase facilities – off balance sheet
  • Accounts payable facilities
  • Performance bond issuance
  • Trade payment collections
  • Letter of credit confirmations
  • Document preparation services

Our clients see value in our involvement in their business applying a global network of solutions. For example, if our coal exporting client has a buyer in Brazil, RBS may know them and through our local representation can provide structures to mitigate payment risk and provide funding for the 360-day payment terms.

On-line innovation

We also rely on innovation to improve our client’s supply chain. Increasingly there is a need to improve financial applications to keep pace with their just-in-time inventory and processing structures. These web-based solutions such as our award winning MaxTrad system improve our client's working capital usage and build closer relationships with their buyer/suppliers.
